GREEN TREE FROGS
Bamboozoo
These little guys have turned out to be one of my all time favourites. They are fairly new to our house and the first 4 I purchased came here in October of '07. I purchased another 4 about 2 months ago to add into the mix.
I really enjoy what these guys have brought to the house. It was likely about 3 months after their arrival that we started to hear the barking. And they bark at all times of the day/night for a variety of reasons. Loud noises will get them started. They bark at the vaccuum! They bark if the parrots get to yelling! They bark at the T.V. They tend to bark when the lights get turned off in the evenings. Jada, the African Grey, immitates them and she can get them going. The barking sound is real enough that when it first began it drove the Staffie up a wall and would start him barking.
Unlike many other frogs they are quite often visible, and likely would be more so in a different environment. Mine are housed in the big 148 gallon with a number of lizards and the turtle. I did a whole lot of praying when I placed them into this environment upon their arrival. They were about a 1/2 inch at that time. I found myself checking on them all the time to make sure they were alright and hadn't turned into food for someone else.
To date their have been no health issues with them. They seem to be pretty hardy as well to have grown up in the 148 with all the competition for food. All 8 are thriving. Because of their personalities they are a frog that is easily kept an eye on. Much simpler to mind their health. With my Whites (Dumpy) frog I have to go searching to make sure she is alright. I never see her.
