MAX AND ROSY ~ RED SIDED ECLECTUS

Max is out and Rosy is locked up AGAIN!  Rosy was a notorious wanderer.  She was forever looking to get into something she shouldn't and determined to get it!  Quite often she would bite if you attempted to distract her or pick her up.  Eventually I learned to towel her to return her to the cage.

This is the cage the pair came with....totally inappropriate...not nearly enough room for the pair of them.  This was the reason that Max couldn't get his tail feathers to grow in.  He would drop to the bottom of the cage to avoid her temper tantrums and in doing so knock out or damage the few he grew in.

MAX AND ROSY

Shortly after bringing them home I understood why they were rehomed, again.  Max and Rosy screamed 10 hours a day, every day.  Nothing kept them occupied or happy for long.  It was like they had ADHD.  And the stress they brought to the house with that behaviour was enormous.  I worked diligently for 10 months with the pair.  They were down to having one to 2 bad days a week by then, but the other flock members couldn't take it for another moment.  All of them began to scream their displeasure.  I also was at the end of my  ability to cope.

Rosy and Max were passed  to their 5th home.  Though when I advertised I stated their issues and expanded on them when in contact.   I was impressed with the couple who came to pick them up.  Who had the determination to try, I believe, as hard as I did to get them back on track.  She was more, no nonsense, than I.   We have spoken a couple of times.  They were making progress and she was enjoying them.  We have since lost contact.  I think of them often, still with concern.  And hope that I made the right decision.  It was very hard to do but was the right decision for this house.

***Max and Rosy had been on Spirulina for a year and a half.  It is incredible for bringing up feather condition.  Unfortunately, I have seen that a study was done on Spirulina and Eclectus Parrots.  The Spirulina caused yelling.
