BOO KAZOO

ABU ~ FONDLY CALLED BOO KAZOO

Boo is I have decided, is 9 years of age.  We are his third home.  Boo was born on the east coast of Canada and was adopted by a pet store owner.  Apparently, he was quite the traveller going with her to and from work, and was a favoured entertainer.  Boo is extremely tolerant of people and very trusting.  He will go to anyone, at any time and he is the one that I will take out to show visitors with children.  Even very small children.  Male eclectus are known to be gentle guys.  I can scoop him off the floor, hang him by one foot upside down.  Trim his toes and wings ~ which every one else here abhors!  He is a little squirmy about his toes but very handlable by a single person.

Boo's yellow spots are due to too much vitamin A.  We had just begun to molt them out when I overdid it again.  Expect it to take 3 to 4 years to molt them all again.

Boo's yelling is in a different category and done for numerous reasons.  As the eldest male, in some circumstances he is being the watchdog of the flock.  He will let out a screech when something large is carried through the room, or when a stranger comes into the dining room.  Boo is also a contact caller, so just when everything is silent in the room and everyone is napping ~ Boo lets out a huge yell ~ where is everyone?  He is also the only bird to be covered sometimes in the afternoon, always in the evening.  If I get all the reptile lights and dining room lights off and haven't placed his cover over him...within a couple of minutes he will start to yell.

Where I have stated that Jazz would do quite well on her own.  This is not the case for Boo.  He would like to be a "velcro" bird consistantly around his person.  He is a one on one bird who tolerates others.  But he also hurts their feelings as he tries to evade them to get to the favourite person.

Abu does not play with toys or paper or anything.  He is partial to his swing though.  Which means he isn't happy left on his own and that contact yell could have the neighbours on your doorstep!

I have given Jan (Boo's previous owner) assurances that Boo would be one of the last to go if I needed to rehome my birds...but honestly rethinking....and I know this is a situation that Jan herself coped with...Abu would have the easiest time in a rehoming situation.  He settled at her home very quickly.  He settled here easily.  And he would develop another deep and loving relationship with another.
